Beautiful large vintage glass apothecary bottle (also called a stoppered jar or laboratory bottle) with a generous capacity of 5000 ml (5 litres).
These bottles were originally used in pharmacies, chemists and laboratories to store chemicals, liquids or powders airtight.
The inside of the neck and the stopper are ground matt, so they fit together perfectly and form an almost airtight seal without the need for a rubber ring.
Height 35 cm, base diameter 19 cm, stopper diameter 13 cm
At the bottom of the bottle, the 5000 ml marking (almost certainly acid-etched or sandblasted) is clearly visible.
