This is an iconic vintage "Siesta" high-back lounge chair, designed by Norwegian designer Ingmar Relling and produced by Westnofa.
The chair is known worldwide as a masterpiece of Scandinavian mid-century modern design, thanks to its perfect balance of elegance, minimal use of materials and exceptional comfort.
The base and supporting back frame are made of natural, bent beech plywood. The organic, flowing S-curve of the legs gives the chair a light, springy and ergonomic quality.
A sturdy canvas is stretched within the wooden frame, held in place by a thick white lacing cord at the back. This creates a flexible base that shapes itself to the body.
The chair has buttoned, cream (off-white) leather cushions. At the top is a characteristic built-in headrest for extra neck support.
This particular model has the optional flexible wooden armrests, topped with a matching strip of cream leather.
The armchair is in characterful vintage condition. The leather shows a light, natural patina and mild creasing in keeping with its age. The original brand label is present on the underside of the leg.
The natural wood has a warm, light tone that contrasts beautifully with the industrial, rustic backdrop in the photo.
